STREET YOUTH MINISTRIES
MISSION
To provide youth in Seattle’s University District with life-skills, resources, and relationships that bring hope and healing to their lives and the community.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Street Youth Ministries (SYM) is a nonprofit, faith-based organization serving homeless and at-risk youth ages 13-22 in the Seattle area. SYM offers the following programs, designed to offer youth the necessary resources to make progress in their movement off the streets: Drop In Center: Provides services including meals, hygiene resources, clothing, and laundry facilities.
Case Management
Chore Program
SYM offers items such as bus tickets, new shoes, and new backpacks to youth as incentives for doing chores in the Drop In Center or SYM offices.
Transportation
Greyhound tickets for youth longing to go home to a safe and healthy environment. Youth are assigned a specific number of hours of work to complete in order to earn their ticket home.
Youth Getaways
Takes youth out of the street environment to see places with beautiful scenery, experience health activity, and practice interacting with caring and positive adults.
