UNIVERSITY DISTRICT YOUTH CENTER
MISSION
The University District Youth Center provides food, support, and the chance to move to a safer living situation for homeless, at-risk, and runaway youth ages 13-22.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Drop In Floor
Provides food, clothing, laundry, showers, bus tickets, and activities. Outreach workers from 45th Street Clinic, Project STARRS, and Orion Center are available at drop-in to talk with youth and provide referrals.
Case Management Services
Provided to assist youth in obtaining shelter, housing, employment, education, valid identification, family reconciliation, mental health services, substance abuse services, legal assistance, and a variety of other services.
Mental Health Services
On-site mental health counselor is provided through Pioneer Counseling services. Specific services include individual counseling and advocacy. The UDYC is also provided an outreach case manager through the DESC/HOST program.
Substance Abuse Services
Ryther Child Center provides on-site drug and alcohol services. These services reflect a harm reduction approach. Specific services include prevention and links to in-patient treatment, as well as individual, group, and family counseling.
